Art programme commemorates Dien Bien Phu Victory
The Vietnam Women's Union in coordination with the Vietnam Border Guard Command organised an art programme to commemorate heroes and martyrs at historical sites in Dien Bien Province on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).
The programme was attended by Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF); Truong My Hoa, former Vice President; Ha Thi Khiet, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Party Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization, and former President of the Vietnam Women's Union; and Ha Thi Nga, Member of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Women's Union;along with leaders of Dien Bien Province.
Speaking at the programme, Ha Thi Nga said that 70 years ago, the whole nation united to win Dien Bien Phu. In 2024, the whole country will turn to Dien Bien with the belief that the province will develop strongly, worthy of being a city in the Northwest region of the country.
The Vietnam Women's Union gave 500 gifts and cash prizes to martyrs' mothers, Dien Bien veterans, policy families, and poor women; and gave gifts to soldiers and adopted children at Tay Trang and Pa Thom Border Station and Dien Bien Province’s Social Protection Centre. 70 "Great Solidarity Houses" were also given to policy families in difficult circumstances.
