According to Ha Long Bay Management Department, since the beginning of 2011 to date, the Department has designed and collaborated with other professional bodies to undertake 9 research projects on Ha Long bay.
9 projects includes:, surveying and researching the bio-diversity value of Ha Long Bay; investigating and assessing the current state of some toxic factors in the caves on Ha Long Bay; researching characteristics of karsts terrain resources to serve management, conservation and appropriate use in tourism development of Ha Long Bay; surveying and assessing current state of the archaeological sites on the Ha Long Bay World Heritage Site; researching geological process and modern dynamic geography to serve the monitoring of changes of the caves and islands on Ha Long Bay; planting fruit trees to supplement foods for the Yellow Monkey (Macaca Mulatta) on the bay; developing eco-tourism on Ha Long Bay; developing community-based tourism on Ha Long Bya; and solutions for investment and conservation of the bio-diversity of Thay cave- Cong Do island area on Ha Long Bay.
In addition, Ha Long Bay Management Department has also collaborated with the Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources to prepare documentation of Ha Long Bay Geo-Park.
