On April 2, the Northern Coastal Region Economic Forum was organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in the city of Uong Bi, Quang Ninh province to enhance cooperative links in economic development strategy among provinces and cities in the region.
Attending the forum were Quang Ninh’s Chairman Nguyen Duc Long, VCCI Chairman Vu Tien Loc and leaders of localities in the northern coastal region.
This year’s forum is the first one jointly organized by Quang Ninh province and VCCI. The forum aims to offer these provinces and cities a platform to exchange experience in improving the business climate, attracting investment and co-operating in developing the regional economy.
Speaking at the forum, VCCI chairman Vu Tien Loc underlined the close relationship among northern coastal localities including Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Hai Duong and Hung Yen in the socio-economic development of this region. He then asked all participants to work together to figure out common strengths to build a regional economic development strategy and attract investment.
In his speech, Deputy Chairman of Quang Ninh province Nguyen Van Thang emphasized a strong need for the improvement of investment and business environment which acted as key drivers to high socio-economic development.
Quang Ninh has much focused on administrative reforms, especially at provincial administrative centers so that almost procedures have been promptly and effectively handled, assisting local people, businesses and investors in saving a great deal of time and money, he stressed.
In addition, investment forms have also been diversified, especially in field of transport infrastructure development including expressways, seaports and airports.
Quang Ninh was constantly listed in the top localities which has the excellent management quality across the country within 6 years from 2013 to 2018 and topped Vietnam’s Provincial Competitiveness Index in the two years of 2017 and 2018.
