To date, 46 out of 50 cultural, sports and tourism events in the framework of the National Tourism Year 2018 Ha Long-Quang Ninh have been held. As the host, Quang Ninh province has made great efforts to successfully organize the event.
As reported, Quang Ninh greeted 10,7 million tourist arrivals in the first ten months of the year, seeing a rise of 25% over the same period last year. Of which, the number of international arrivals was estimated at 4 million, up 19%; the total tourism revenue was VND19,000 billion, an increase of 28%. These fingues partly shows the success of the national Touism Year 2018.
The National Tourism Year with a series of cultural, sports and tourism activities held in all the localities of Quang Ninh has made impressive breakthroughs in tourism development of the province. These achievements resulted from dramatical changes in the way of developing tourism. Accordingly, Quang Ninh undertook various robust measures to enhance tourism promotion to both domestic and international markets; upgrading tourism infrastructure to offer tourists with a wide range of new attractive products and special experiences. Therefore, tourist arrivals to Quang Ninh is increasing in the recent years.
In addtion, the organization of the National Tourism Year’s events not only in tourism centers of Quang Ninh but also in other localities provincewide has provided the locals good opportunities to exchange experiences in developing tourism. On the other hands, the local tourism enterprises are more confident to implement their business plan in the future.
One of the highlights is the national food festival 2018 Quang Ninh from Sep. 28 – Oct. 1 in Ha Long city. The event gathered 70 goods booths introducing typical dishes featuring cultural characteristics of different cities and provinces around the country. This is also a great occasion for hotels, restaurants and tourist boat companies to learn from each other to raise the quality of services.
As scheduled, a number of activities will be held in the remaining months of the year. For instance, the conference on tourism connection will take place in late November in Mong Cai city; the So flower festival in Binh Lieu district, etc.
Quang Ninh targets to receive 12 million tourist arrivals in 2018, including 5 million international arrivals. As reported, only in the first 10 months of the year, the number reached over 10 million. This figure reflects not only the success of the National Touris Year 2018 but also active involvement of departments, sectors and business community at all levels of Quang Ninh.
Particularly, Quang Ninh has focused on developing transport infratstructure. The operation of the Halong-Haiphong expressway has helped to reduce traffic jam and shorten duration from Hanoi to Halong city, enabling more people to travel to Quang Ninh. In addition, other important factors contributing to the success of the National Tourism Year included: enhancement of environmental protection, intensification of tourism advertisment, and active involvement of tourism businesses.
For the 2019 tasks, Quang Ninh will be the venue of the Asean Tourism Forum which will kicks off from Jan. 14-18. It is expected to be a big chance to boost and advertise tourism of Vietnam in general and Quang Ninh particular to the world.
