The 18th Vietnam Film Festival officially opened in the evening of Oct. 14 at Tuan Chau International Tourism and Recreation Complex (Ha Long city). The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Truong Vinh Trong- former Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh- Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Pham Minh Chinh – Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, and a great number of central and provincial leaders.
With the participation of 139 films made by 44 film studios across the country, including 23 cenematic movies, 6 videos, 10 documentaries, 62 video documentary films, 12 scientific films and 26 cartoons, the 18th Vietnam Film Festival is one of the festivals hit the record on the number of films at the festival.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of QNPPC Nguyen Van Doc said this is the first time that Quang Ninh has hosted a national film festival under a series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of Quang Ninh province (October 30, 1963 – 2013). He stressed that audiances will have chance to learn more about Ha Long’s image and Quang Ninh’s landscape and people. He hoped that Quang Ninh would inspire film makers to produce great works.
Also at the ceremony, actors and actresses along with audiences have reviewed 60 years of foundation and development of Vietnam Revolution Cinema. As scheduled, the film festival wraps up on Oct. 16th, at Tuan Chau, Ha Long.
