The General Department of Vietnam Customs hosted the 13th Asia – Europe Meeting (ASEM 13) Customs Directors – General on Oct. 9th in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province. Prominent among those at the event was Finance Deputy Minister Do Hoang Anh Tuan, along with more than 53 delegations of customs agencies of ASEM member countries, Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), the European Union and representatives of Embassies of ASEM member countries based in Vietnam.
At the meeting, delegates analyzed achievements in customs cooperation among the ASEM member countries over the years and adopted the ASEM Customs Action Plan for the 2020 – 2021 period.
Hosting the meeting affirmed the important role of Vietnamese Customs in Asia – Europe Customs cooperation, contributing to creating the connection and regional cooperation in the fields of customs, especially the challenges faced by the countries in the context of trade fraud, security and illegal transportation of hazardous goods.
Established in 1996, the ASEM Cooperation Forum with 53 members is the inter-regional forum aiming at building a new partnership among Asian and European countries.
