Women nationwide respond to ‘Ao Dai Week’
A large number of Vietnam women across the country have been wearing ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) in recent days in response to ‘Ao Dai Week’ and International Women’s Day (March 8).
Launched by the Vietnam Women’s Union, ‘Ao Dai Week’ is taking place from March 1-8 with the aim of honouring the beauty of the traditional dress and preserving and promoting Vietnam’s cultural heritage.
President of the Trade Union of the Ministry of Planning and Investment Le Thi Tuong Thu said that Ao Dai Week is an opportunity to honour the beauty of Vietnamese women and make them feel cherished and cared for. Wearing the traditional ao dai makes women feel more graceful and gentle, making life more colourful, she noted. Thu added that Ao Dai Week is a meaningful activity which enriches the movements of women and helps them love and respect themselves more, thereby spreading happiness to the other half of the world.
