An arts programme was held yesterday at the Vietnamese Ethnic Group Culture-Tourism Village, in Hanoi’s suburban district of Son Tay, on the occasion of Vietnamese Heritage Day (November 23).
The event cheered audiences with performances of typical art forms by Vietnamese ethnic groups from across the country, such as Nha Nhac (Hue royal court music), Quan Ho (love duets), Ca Tru (ceremonial singing), Don Ca Tai Tu (Southern amateur music). Also at the event were singing and folk dancing performances by hundreds of artists and artisans from professional troupes nationwide.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ho Anh Tuan affirmed that each Vietnamese ethnic group possessed characteristic and indigenous culture contributing to the treasured value of Vietnam’s long-lasting culture and the country’s future development.
He said he hoped that artisans and the whole community would join hands in practical activities to preserve and uphold cultural heritage while boosting tourism development.
* A complex of Cham towers was inaugurated in the village on the same day. The construction of the complex started four years ago with the aim to introduce the cultural and architectural essence of the Cham people to Hanoians, as well as domestic and international visitors.
The Kate festival and other traditional ceremonies of the Cham people were also enacted at the inaugural ceremony.
* The Vietnamese Cultural Day wrapped up the same day at the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts in Hanoi. Under the theme ‘Discover the Red River Civilisation’, the three-day event featured a wide range of activities honouring the cultural beauty of the Red River delta region, as well as the richness of Vietnamese cultural heritage.
