A delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia led by Ambassador Doan Khanh Tam on September 9 visited School 14, named after President Ho Chi Minh, and presented two traditional musical instruments of Vietnam - T'rung - which teachers and students of the school love and always want to include in the curriculum and are displayed at the Ho Chi Minh Tradition Room of the school.

At the event, Ambassador Doan Khanh Tam proudly introduced the historical, spiritual and sacred cultural significance of the T'rung of the Central Highlands people to the birth, how to play, structure and how to make and preserve the instruments.

After instructing how to assemble, in spite of being not professional, Ambassador Doan Khanh Tam performed, making the teachers and students of the school feel very interesting and be attracted by the special sound of the T'rung.

“Now I have the opportunity to see the instrument with my own eyes and feel a musical instrument whose sounds like the sound of water murmuring in a clear stream; the sound is clear, joyful and gives listeners a rare peace and joy!" Principal E. Gungaajav said.

According to him, the gift is a vivid and practical demonstration and a beautiful bridge connecting two cultures, people and especially the young generations of Vietnam and Mongolia.

Mr. E. Gungaajav expressed his hope that the Ambassador and the Embassy would continue to pay attention and support to collect some other traditional Vietnamese musical instruments, helping the school to display and establish a band with the T'rung in order to perform with traditional long dress (Ao Dai) of Vietnam in combination with a unique ethnic plucked musical instrument of Mongolia to create unique rhythms, which will be friendly and peaceful melodies between Vietnam and Mongolia resonating in the green steppe country.
