According to Mr. Singh Gill, the UN is focusing on supporting governments to address challenges in the digital environment, including governance, ensuring human rights in cyberspace, and accepting contributions from countries and stakeholders to the Global Digital Agreement, the initiative of the UN Secretary-General.

It is also aimed to apply information technology to make progress in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, and to support countries to build data systems in essential areas such as health, education, and green transformation.

He assessed that the UN and Vietnam have a lot of potential for cooperation in information technology, wishing to strengthen connections with businesses operating in the information technology field of Vietnam.

During a recent meeting in early September with UN Deputy Secretary-General Singh Gill, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, said that Vietnam is ready to contribute to the UN's policies and strategies in this area.

He said that Vietnam wished to cooperate with the UN on digital transformation both in policy development as well as in implementation. He added that Vietnam can share experiences with other countries and with the UN in ensuring online education during the COVID-19 pandemic to prepare for possible future crises.

He also affirmed his readiness to connect the Office of the Deputy Secretary-General with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and information technology enterprises to contribute to the UN's digital transformation efforts.
