Now in its second year, Thu Fest 2026 blends traditional folklore with modern creativity, infusing the vibrant modern city of Quang Ninh with the rich colors of enduring cultural heritage. Nearly 50 culinary and craft booths drew crowds with hands-on activities, from arranging Mid-Autumn feast trays and crafting star lanterns to traditional bamboo dancing and tug-of-war.
Opening on the evening of Sep 18 at the Halobayshow Musical Fountain square in Ha Long Marina, Thu Fest 2026 is co-hosted by Bai Chay ward, BIM Group, and the Quang Ninh city Youth Union.
The event welcomed distinguished guests, including Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Nguyen Chi Thanh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh; and Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Head of the city's National Assembly Delegation, alongside local leaders and community members.

A major highlight was the "Lanterns lighting up dreams" artistic program, featuring vibrant performances, a breathtaking Mai Hoa Thung lion and dragon dance, a luminous parade of over 120 decorative models, and a musical fountain show. Children were especially thrilled by a special appearance from national football player Nguyen Hai Long, a proud local son who shared his athletic journey, demonstrated ball-juggling skills, and presented gifts to young participants.
Embodying the compassionate spirit of the community, the Central Youth Union, the city’s National Assembly Delegation, the City Youth Union, and BIM Group presented 42 gifts to disadvantaged students, encouraging them to overcome adversity and excel in their studies.
The vibrant Mid-Autumn celebration continues on the evening of September 19 with signature events, including the cutting of a massive 200-kilogram mooncake, festival drum performances to light up the full moon night, and a mass lantern procession featuring thousands of children.
The finale will be broadcast live on QTV1, VTVgo, and the official Facebook fanpage of the Quang Ninh Media Group (QMG).
