The stamps about Quang Ninh province

On July 18, in Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications will launch a special set of stamps on Bach Dang Victory in 1288. Previously, from 1958 until now, Vietnam Post Office issued 15 sets of stamps introducing Quang Ninh’s image.

The first stamp about Quang Ninh published by Vietnam Post Office in 1958 printed an image of Great King Tran Quoc Tuan who was commanding the battle against the enemies. The stamp with the national name “Democratic Republic of Vietnam”, worth 150 VND, was designed by artist Nguyen Van Khanh.

In 1959, Vietnam Post Office published a stamp about the exciting and busy atmosphere of coal exploiting scenery at Cam Pha open-mining field. The 33x27mm stamp, worth 150 VND, was designed by artist Bui Trang Chuoc.

Also in 1959, Vietnam Post Office published the first set of stamps about Ha Long Bay. The 37x26mm stamp with simple one-colour design, printed in Hungary, depicted an overview of Ha Long Bay’s natural beauty.

Stamp model “ Protecting the mining area” which had the code 610 under the stamp set “Production and Combat”, designed by artist Mai Van Hien and published in 1968.

32x52 stamp model “Producing lots of coal for the country” was designed by artist Trinh Quoc Thu, printed 50 stamps/sheet in Poland and published in 1970.

In 1984, the second set of stamps about Ha Long Bay was published by Vietnam Post Office. The stamps which were designed by artist Nguyen Hiep depicted the beauty of Yen Ngua islet, Dua islet, Bo Nau cave, Fighting Cock islet, Bai Tho mountain etc. These 52x37mm stamps were printed by multicolored clay-cladding technology in the Soviet Union, worth around 1- 50 VND each stamp.

Also in 1984, the stamp model “ A Mining boy” designed by artist Tran Van Can was published by Vietnam Post Office. The 32x46mm stamps were printed with multi-colored alloy plate technology in Hungary.

In 1988, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Bach Dang Victory (1288-1988), a set of 2 stamps, including “Victory Day”, worth 80 VND, and “ Bach Dang water war”, worth 200 VND, designed by artist Tran Luong, was published by Vietnam Post Office.

Also in 1988, a 87x105 mm stamp about Fighting Cock islet on Ha Long Bay was published.

In 1997, Vietnam Post Office published a stamp model “The earthenware dragon head at Quynh Lam Pagoda” in 46x31mm size, worth 1,000 VND.

A set of 2 stamps, introducing the beauty of Ha Long Bay (Vietnam) and Bonifacio Gate (France) was published in 2008. This was the first stamp set issued by Vietnam and France.

The stamp set “Tra Co Communal House – Quang Ninh scenery” was published in 2018, depicted the whole communal house with warm color which represented majestic beauty of the first land of the country.

The 43x32mm stamp sample  “Bai Chay Bridge” (Quang Ninh province) -  a unique cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam – was designed by artist Pham Trung Ha and published by Vietnam Post Office in 2019.
