The other 11 are China's Beijing Capital International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun and Shanghai Pudong, South Korea’s Incheon, Japan’s Narita International, Singapore’s Changi, Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi, Mongolia’s Chinggis Khaan, Hong Kong, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur, and India’s Indira Gandhi.

The winner will be determined by votes from travelers around the world at the World Travel Awards website.

The awards ceremony for Asia will take place on October 6 in Dubai.

In 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic began, Tan Son Nhat had handled some 40 million passengers against a designed capacity of 25 million per year.

Since the pandemic broke out in early 2020 Tan Son Nhat has adopted a number of preventive measures such as requiring all passengers to wear masks and make health declarations, installing thermal sensors to check passengers' temperatures and disinfecting all airplanes.

Skytrax recognized it as one of the world’s 10 best airports that handled 20-25 million passengers in 2021.

The World Travel Awards, launched in 1993, acknowledge excellence in the travel and tourism industry, and have been described as the "travel industry's equivalent of the Oscars."
