Spiritual tourism lures visitors during early days of Spring 2022

Spiritual and tourism sites in Quang Ninh province have seen an increasing number of tourists since the early days of Spring, which can be seen as a positive sign for the quick recovery of the local tourism sector and sets the scene for it to reach its target of welcoming 9.5 million visitor arrivals including 1.5 million foreign ones in 2022.

The Complex of Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape has welcomed visitors since January 27. In particular, nearly 1,500 visitors came on the first day of the Lunar New Year, or Tet holiday, which doubled in the days following and stood at more than 36,000 arrivals on the fourth and fifth days of the lunar new year.

The temple of Cua Ong - Cap Tien has greeted over 73,000 arrivals since the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Other spiritual tourism sites greeting thousands of visitors during the holiday including Uong Bi city’s Ba Vang Pagoda  (57,500 tourist arrivals), Cam Pha city’s Cua Ong temple (over 52,300 arrivals), Van Don district’s Cai Bau Pagoda (over 30,000 arrivals), Dong Trieu town’s Ngoa Van Pagoda (over 43,000 arrivals), etc., according to the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism.

To ensure the safety for visitors, spiritual tourist attractions are equipped with QR codes enabling people to declare health status. They also provide travellers with free face masks, hand sanitizers and sanitizers as well as keep visitors informed about the pandemic situation.

Quang Ninh has more than 600 cultural heritages, including communal houses, pagodas, temples, shrines, scenic spots, heritage sites, and natural wonders of the world. Revenue from tourism reaches some 1,500 billion VND annually.

With flexible adaptation measures against Covid-19, Quang Ninh’s spiritual tourism is not only expected to prosper in the opening months of the year 2022 but also provide popular travel destinations throughout the year, contributing to the recovery of the tourism industry in general and to the province’s socio-economic development.
