As reported by Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Quang Ninh province received more than 5.8 million tourist arrivals in the first six months of 2017, up 12% compared to the same period last year.
Of which, international arrivals was 2 million, up 9% compared to the same period. Tourism revenue was around VND 8.366 billion, a rise of 23%.
This achievement results from a series of robust measures for tourism development. Specifically, many plans on tourism promotion and marketing have been drawn over the years; a wide range of events have been held to boost tourism, namely: Ha Long carnival, Yen Tu festival; OCOP fair,... . In addition, Quang Ninh has also participated in famous national and international tourism fairs organized in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh, RoK, Japan, Honkong, England, Russia etc.
The funtional authorities have taken robust activities to develop the tourism trademark. Of which, the program titled Halong's Smile has been effectively conducted, raising both locals and tourists' awareness of sustainable tourism development.
With outstanding universal values of Ha Long Bay and hundreds of historical and cultural relics, Quang Ninh is now becoming a magnet for domestic and international tourists. In addition, tourism infrastructure and tourism products are actively developed and improved. Major tourism events will be held in Quang Ninh in the coming years, namely the 2018 National Tourism Year, ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019, etc. It is expected to introduce Quang Ninh's image to the world and also promote its tourism development, and to increase the contribution of tourism to the local economy.
