Quang Ninh tops PCI for first time

With its high determination and great effort, Quang Ninh ranked Vietnam’s most competitive province for the first time. The result was announced at the PCI 2017 announcement ceremony held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Mar. 22 in Ha Noi city.

Quang Ninh has made great efforts overs the years in order to maintain its position among the top provinces of Vietnam with the best quality of economic governance for 5th consecutive year (2013-2017).  It ranked the second in 2016 and climbed to the the top in 2017.

Da Nang, which dominated the ranking from 2013 to 2016, came second with 70.1 points, followed by Dong Thap (68.8) and Long An (66.7).

Ho Chi Minh City (65.70) ranked eighth, and Hanoi (64.71) ranked 13th.

Speaking at the ceremony, Quang Ninh’s Chairman Nguyen Duc Long stated that this result affirmed not only determination and efforts by Quang Ninh’s provincial party and government as well as departments and sectors at all levels but also trust and high appreciation by enterprises and investors in the improvement of Quang Ninh’s business environment.

VCCI President Vu Tien Loc, on behalf of community of enterprises across Vietnam, congratulated and honored Quang Ninh, along with other localities on top PCI group, on its achievement.

The PCI, first launched in 2005, aims to assess the ease of doing business, economic governance and administrative reform efforts of local governments of 63 provinces and cities in Viet Nam.
