Quang Ninh Department of Natural resources and Environment and Japan's Seiwa and Chodai companies jointly held a conference on the introduction and using bio-toilets on tourist boats to protect Halong Bay's environment.
Accordingly, 20 bio-toilets will be installation testing on tourist boats, at some tourist attractions and public areas in Ha Long city by the end of April, 2018.
The installation of the bio-toilets is under the project on introducing new technology for improving environment launched by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Quang Ninh province. It is expected to be a good example for other localities that have heritage sites to consider to apply to balance the envirnomental protection and industrial development.
The appliance of the bio-toilets and wastewater treatment systems within Halong Bay would help reduce 50% of environmental pollution caused by waste water. It also helps raise the awareness of not only the locals but also the tourists about environmental protection, contributing to minimize the bad impact on the environment.
