On the evening of October 18, in Nam Dinh City (Nam Dinh Province), a ceremony was co-held by the Central Committee of Emulation and Reward coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to honor excellent organizations and individuals who have outstanding achievements in the campaign “The whole nation joins hands to build new-style rural areas" for the 2011 – 2020 period. On behalf of Quang Ninh's leaders, Vice Chairman Dang Huy Hau attended the ceremony.
Started in 2011, to date, the program achieved positive results with a total number of 4,665 communes meeting criteria for new-style rural areas, accounting for 52.4 percent.
Quang Ninh, with the great determination and active involvement of the whole political system and all the people, has 3 localities namely Dong Trieu town, Co To district and Cam Pha city recognized as new-style rural areas. Of which, Viet Dan commune in Dong Trieu town became the first model commune satisfying the new rural area construction standards nationwide.
Additionally, the "One commune, one product" (OCOP) program, which commenced in 2013, is a unique brand of the province and has been multiplied in the whole country.
For these achievements, Quang Ninh was granted with the 3rd-class Labor Medal, after 10 years of implementing the National Program on New-style Rural Area Building for the 2010 – 2020 period.
Quang Ninh strives to have 90 communes and 6 more districts and towns to meet the program criteria and fulfill the new rural area task by the end of 2019.
