Some 100 representatives from Europe have registered to attend the Ha Long Week 2012 from November 27 to 30 in Ha Long City, according to the Quang Ninh Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The event will also draw 300 delegates who are leaders of ministries, central sectors and Quang Ninh Province, representatives of tourism companies at home and abroad, and nearly 100 Vietnamese and foreign reporters.
The Quang Ninh People’s Committee revealed that the Ha Long Week is aimed at promoting tourism to the European market, with various activities, including city tours, overnights in Ha Long Bay, and seminars.
International arrivals to Ha Long City are expected to increase some 10% this year. Some 2.5 million foreign tourists come to Ha Long, accounting for 40% of the total foreign visitors to Viet Nam a year.
The heritage site expects to see an annual increase of European tourists at 12-15% in the coming years.
