On May 21, the Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Department of Labours, Invalids and Social Affairs jointly held a ceremony to launch the Month of Action for Children; kick off summer acivities; and present gifts of the Children Protection Fund for the year 2017. Mrs. Vu Thi Thu Thuy, Quang Ninh's Vice Chairwoman, Head of the 2017 summer activities Steering Committee forattended the ceremony.
With the theme of "Implementing the Law on Children and prevention and response to children abuse and violence", the Month of Action for Children 2017 runs throughout the month of June (1-30) at all localities within the province . Accordingly, the Month will focus on the main actions, namely: enhancing media campaigns to disseminate regulations on children protection under the law on children, knowledge of preventing children abuse and violence; running courses on kid's survival skills training; and organizing conferences with the topics of education management, medical care,.. to develop a safe living environment for children; assisting children suffering from difficulties and children at mountainous and remote areas.
The activities during the Month aim to raise the awareness of the society in protecting and taking care of children, especially during their summer holiday.
On this occasion, the Provincial Fund for Supporting Children presented 50 bikes to the children in especially difficult circumstances in Hoanh Bo district and Quang Yen town. The Fund has raised an amount of more than VND 3.3 bln by kind-hearted individuals and organizations in the province.
