Quang Ninh healthcare sector: Intensifying International Cooperation

In order to improve the quality of medical healthcare services offered to the people, Quang Ninh Provincial healthcare sector has actively promoted cooperation with other countries regarding scientific research, technological transfer, and human resource training.

Quang Ninh General Hospital is one of the good examples in terms of international cooperation exchange. According to the hospital’s director, Dr. Nguyen Van Manh, with the aim of raising the quality of the human resources, a large number of doctors and staff members of the hospital have been sent to France, Germany, Singapore and the Philippines to be trained in different disciplines. The hospital also received many international delegations who come to Quang Ninh to exchange professional skills, and invited foreign experts to give lectures of technological transfer, which has helped the doctors and staff members of the hospital to have chances to study and approach new technologies, contributing to improving the medical treatment ability and raising the quality of health services.

In the Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, doctors have opportunities to improve their skills when they are trained at the National Reproductive Support center and Reproductive Health Training center, which are the most prestige reproductive training institutions in the region and the world. They also actively take part in various specialized seminars and symposiums with the participation of the world’s leading international experts.

The Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is known as a reliable partner of the CDC of the U.S, Taiwan, The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), World Health Organization (WHO), or the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH) to carry out disease pervention strategies, such as: the application of rapid response, controling public healthcare events, the AI application in identifying and warning diseases or the project to build a proper medical waste treatment and management system in Quang Ninh funded by the Japanese Ministry of Environment since 2017.

Related to human resources training, thousands of the provincial sector’s offcials have been trained in many countries, namely Taiwan (China), the U.K, France, Japan, etc. so that they could approach advanced sciences of the world, continuously improving their professional qualifications. As reported, in two years of 2017-2018, 55 doctors were sent to be trained in Taiwan.

In 2019, Quang Ninh health sector continues to expand international cooperation. In addition to effectively implementing the ongoing programs, the provincial health sector continues to cooperate with Malaysian National Heart Center - a prestigious center of Asia and the world, aiming at improving the quality of the provincial cardiovascular intervention center;  Japanese JICA experts to consult the development of Quang Ninh Geriatric Hospital; JICA volunteers participate in supporting rehabilitation activities; coordinate with POF Office (USA), Indian government to provide artificial limbs to support for disabled people in the province.
