On Oct 31st, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province convenes the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities. The congress was attended by 250 delegates representing for more than 162,000 ethnic people in the province.
With the theme “Quang Ninh’s ethnic minorities unite and uphold inner power for integration and development”, attendants took time to review the implementation of the previous congress’ determination letter; socio-economic development in mountainous areas in the period of 2014-2019; then specified missions and solutions to implement ethnic affairs, ethnic policies, and emulation movements among ethnic minorities in the period of 2019-2024.
Addressing the congress, Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee, cum Chairman of Provincial People’s Council, Nguyen Xuan Ky, emphasized that the congress played a political importance to Quang Ninh as it not only affirmed the Provincial Party’s Committee, People’s Counicl, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee, and the whole political system’s concern to ethnic affairs but also provided an opportunity to honor ethnic people’s great contribution to provincial socio-economic development.
The congress unanimously adopted the determination letter for the period of 2019-2024 and honored 28 groups and 54 individuals for their excellent performance in conducting ethnic affairs, ethnic policies and emulation movements in the period of 2014-2019. And 13 representatives were chosen to take part in national congress of ethnic minorities 2020.
