On Oct 29th, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee and the party Committee of Vietnam Coast Guard signed a cooperative agreement on the initiative “Coast Guard stands side-by-side with fishermen”. Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee, cum Chairman of Provincial People’s Council, Nguyen Xuan Ky, and Lieutenant General Hoang Van Dong, Secretary of the Coast Guard High Command’s Party Committee and Political Commissar, co-chaired the signing ceremony.
Over the past 2 years, the Coast Guard High Command has implemented the model “Coast Guard stands side-by-side with fishermen” at many localities nationwide. Quang Ninh is the 10th locality in the program. The model has raised the awareness of people, especially fishermen about the situation of sea and islands; built stronger island communes in the cause of the national construction and defense, as well as protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands.
The Secretary of Quang Ninh highlighted that Quang Ninh, with its potential and strength of sea and islands, had carried out many projects in line with national construction and defense, thus promoting sea economy in particular and economic growth in general. Quang Ninh is focusing on high-end sea and islands tourism products; aquaculture cultivation ensuring aquatic resource protection; the construction of Van Don and Quang Ninh Coastal Economic Zones; promotion of seaport economy, seaport services, logistics and coastal eco-urban areas.
On this occasion, Vietnam Coast Guard offered 200 gift sets, worth of 1 million VND each, to local disadvantaged fishermen.
