A talk on boosting the economic, trade and investment cooperation between Japan and Quang Ninh province (Vietnam) was held on July 12, in Ha Noi city. It was attended by Mr. Kunio Umemda, Ambassador Plenipotenary and Extraordinary of Japan to Vietnam ; Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Head of the PCC Commission for Organization, Chairman of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group; along with the top leaders of Quang Ninh and Japanese partners.
At the talk, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh sincerly thanked the Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam, JETRO, JICA, and other Japanese businesses for their interest in seeking for coorperation and investment opportunities in Quang Ninh over the years.
With its distinctive potential and advantages for economic development, Quang Ninh was chosen as one of the three provinces in Vietnam to develop Special Economic Zones. In addition, in recent years, Quang Ninh has been very active in attracting investments from Japan, especially in the fields of agriculture, tourism and services and other areas oriented to green growth.
Having said that, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh then proposed Japanese partners to assist Quang Ninh in some main areas, namely in improving the training quality of Japanese Language Department of the Ha Long University; holding conferences to promote investment from Japan into Quang Ninh; introducing some of the Japanese banks and financial organizations to understand and approach Quang Ninh's market.
On behalf of Quang Ninh's leaders, Mr. Nguyen Van Doc, Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party's Committee, Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Council sincerly thanked Japanese partners for their support by granting ODA to implement some major projects contributing to boost socio-economic development of the province.
He once again confirmed that Quang Ninh always determines Japanese investors as reliable partners and wishes to attract more Japanese investors to closely cooperate with the province, in effectively tapping its potential and advantages, and developing the projects using Japanese skill, for example in the areas of processing and manufacturing industries, hi-tech agriculture, tourism and services, etc.
He strongly afirmed that, Quang Ninh pledges to accompany and assist Japanese investors by offering them the best convinience during their investments in the province. He hoped that the Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam, and other Japanese representative offices based in Vietnam would enhance advertising and promoting Quang Ninh's potential and strengths to the Japanese so that they could visit Quang Ninh and explore investment possibilities in the province.
In addition, the Quang Ninh Party's leader proposed Japan to support the province to organize an investment promotion conference to call for more investments from Japan into Quang Ninh, and to bridge localities of Japan with Quang Ninh in general, and with other localities of Quang Ninh in particular. Notably, Quang Ninh wishes to have strong support from Japan in human resource training and teaching Japanese language; granting ODA for the projects that are being invested by Japanese investors in Quang Ninh; implementing the projects related to environmental protection of Halong Bay, climate change adaptation, healthcare and education.
Mr. Kunio Umemda, Ambassador Plenipotenary and Extraordinary of Japan to Vietnam hailed all the potential and advantages, as well as incentives of Quang Ninh to allure investments into the province. He said that Japanese government puts high priority on ODA projects related to on environmental protection, green growth, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. He also suggested that Quang Ninh should pay much concerns to attracting investments in some of the areas in which Japan specializes, such as: environmental protection, tourism and services, agriculture, manufacture, etc.
