On November 27, in Ha Long city, the Vice-Chairman of QNPPC Dang Huy Hau chaired a meeting with the consulting unit Asconit- the French Cooperation Agency in order to listen to the presentation of the project on “supporting the sustainable development of Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay and Hai Phong”. The meeting was also attended by the leaders of relevant provincial departments.
At the meeting, Asconit’s representative made a brief presentation of the project with the total investment capital of EURO 3.4 mil. The aim of the project is to improve the quality of water resource, protect not only the surrounding environment but also public heath, as well as to maintain marine activities namely in tourism, coastal, aquatic products growing and fishing.
Also at the meeting, the Asconit’s representative suggested that industrial and tourism enterprises, aquaculture units, port and wharf authorities should involve in this project aiming at raising their responsibilities in environmental protection especially in their trading and production activities.
Participants at the meeting have discussed a number of issues, such as basic information of the major industrial zones within the province; database regarding the environment of the Bay; the factors polluting marine environment; or environmental protection master plan, e.t.c.
Speaking at the meeting, the Vice-Chairman of QNPPC Hau stressed that data collection and analysis are very important for accurate evaluation of the environment of Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay. He said that Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee hoped the project to be soon effectively implemented. The consulting unit will work with each relevant department so that the project could be commenced as soon as possible .
