On Apr. 18, in Ha Long city, a program entitled "Join hands to support the people with disabilities and orphans" in 2017 was jointly launched by Quang Ninh Association for the Support of Handicapped and Orphans; Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Quang Ninh Television and Radio, and Quang Ninh Newspaper .
This is the 11th program that has been held aiming at mobilizing social organizations and society participation in sponsoring the disable people and orphans in Quang Ninh province. It also honored outstanding organizations and individuals who have made great contribution to the donation activities in 2016.
Speaking at the program, Quang Ninh's Vice Chairman Le Quang Tung said that the province always pays much concern to protect and take care of the handicapped and orphans, and help them to overcome difficluties in their life. "However, there are still many of them who are in troubles and in need of help from all public and private organisations and the people in the province", emphasized the Vice Chairman.
He called for authorities, organizations, units at all levels, as well as enterprises and individuals, with the tradition of Vietnamese people "the good leaves protect the worn-out leaves" to join hands to respond to the program, and help the disable people and orphaned children to have a better life.
At the event, many bikes, wheelchairs, learning visual aids were gifted to the handicapped and orphans. Notably, over VND 2.5 billion were donated by organizations and individuals.
On this occasion, the outstanding organizations and idividuals were granted with certificate merits by Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, the Ministry of Labour-Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Vietnam Association of the Handicapped and Orphans.
