Numerous brands from Vietnam’s North, Central, and South regions gather at Pho festival
The “Pho Festival 2025” programme, aimed at promoting the image of “Hanoi Pho”, will take place at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel. The event will feature over 50 stalls representing famous Pho brands from across the three regions of Vietnam.
On April 3, the Office of the Hanoi People’s Committee issued Plan No. 19/KH-VP for organising the “Pho Festival 2025” to promote “Hanoi Pho” as a recognised national intangible cultural heritage. The event contributes to developing the capital’s cultural and culinary industries.
All participating enterprises and brands will be rigorously selected and assessed to ensure food quality and hygiene. The event serves as a platform to honour and connect businesses, traditional craft villages, and culinary brands in promoting Vietnamese cuisine to locals, tourists, and international friends.
The programme is co-organised by the municipal Conference Centre, the Department of Tourism, the Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre, and Nhan Dan Newspaper, which will act as the media sponsor.
It will feature diverse activities and themed exhibition areas. Visitors can experience Pho from different regions, including Hanoi Pho, Nam Dinh Pho, and highland-style Pho, as well as explore the heritage stories of Pho and engage in hands-on cooking experiences.
A cultural space will showcase traditional and modern Pho styles, typical Pho spices, and iconic local items such as Tay Ho lotus tea, subsidy-era beer, and old-quarter-style crispy crullers.
On the sideline, discussions between experts and artisans will be held to talk about the journey of Pho from a traditional dish to national and international heritage, strategies for preserving and promoting Pho culture globally, and franchising opportunities to bring Vietnamese Pho worldwide. The festival will also include street art performances.
The programme will open on the evening of April 18 and conclude on April 20.
