Mong Cai to effectively tap Tra Co national tourism site

With great potential and strengths, Tra Co tourism site in Mong Cai city has recently been recognized as the national tourism site. Currently, Mong Cai city and Quang Ninh’s relevant departments and sectors have paid special attention to the orientation to promote this tourism site’s potential.

Mong Cai – the border area converges a range of advantages for tourism development. Mong Cai is endowed with charming landscapes, famous architectural monuments, fresh air, convenient transportation, delicious cuisine, friend people, and unique and diverse culture etc.

Particularly, Tra Co is a famous destination of Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province in particular and Vietnam in general. It is home to Vietnam’s longest and beautiful beach and well-known landscapes and relics at national and provincial levels. It has met all requirements for tourism infrastructure, facitlities and services to serve a huge number of tourists. Each year, Mong Cai attracts more than 2 mil. tourist arrivals, including nearly 300,000 staying guests.

In recent years, Mong Cai City has focused on effective direction and investment in developing tourism spots and attractions. Mong Cai has attached special importance to the project on promoting tourism products and implementing solutions to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector. Specifically, the city completed the upgrading of Mong Cai – Tra Co road, accelerated the progress of Vinh Thuc trans-island road, fulfilled the expansion and installation of material and technical facilities for Mong Cai International Border Gate and continued to upgrade tourism spots in Tra Co tourism site.

At the same time, Mong Cai city has also focused on tourism sustainable development, creating new products. Accordingly, the city has invested in promoting and preserving relics and offering a number of new products such as: tourist self-drive tours across the border; electric cars etc. Hotels, restaurants and shopping centers have been given special attention to be embellished, thus increasing service quality.

Thanks to great efforts, Mong Cai’s tourism has seen remarkable changes. In 2018, Mong Cai welcomed more than 2.7 mil. tourist arrivals. In the first 6 months of 2019, 1.6 mil. tourist arrivals visited Mong Cai, a year on year increase of 8%, contributing 61 bil. VND to the budget, an increase of 7% over same period last year. These are important driving forces to promote tourism image of Mong Cai in general and Tra Co tourism site in particular.
