Leaders of QNPPC works with Monitor group

In Ha Long city, Nov. 5, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Member of the Central Party Committee, the Provincial Party Secretary had a meeting with Monitor Group- a consulting unit specializing in building economic development strategy and competitiveness advantage. The meeting was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh,- Vice-chairman of QNPPC and  representatives from other relevant provincial departments and sectors.

At the meeting, Mr. Chris Malone- Head Representative of Monitor group in Vietnam has briefly introduced about human resource,, capacity, experiences and business fields of the Group. Accordingly, Monitor is one of the world’s leading consulting groups specializing in building economic development and competitiveness advantage. The group has  implemented various projects in Asia .

It also has a large team of world-class experts and a wide network of customers, including many leading enterprises in the world. Some of its major business fields are: assisting building development strategy; training and building capacity and promoting  investment. In Vietnam, the group has assisted Ninh Thuan and Ha Tinh provinces to build their socio-economic development strategy and planning.

Assessing the current situation of socio-economic development of Quang Ninh, the Group’s representatives has indicated a numbers of priorities and challenges in socio-economic development of the province. Accordingly, based on its primary research, the Group has outlined some development advantages of Quang Ninh including: strategic gateway to the country; high competitiveness index;  unique natural landscape is favorable for tourism development; abundant natural resources are good for industrial development; and skilled and highly-qualified human resource.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the group for undertaking research and providing initial ideas for economic developing of the province. Based on 4 typical features, namely: geological position, natural resources, scenery and human resources, Mr. Secretary provided the Group with an overall picture of Quang Ninh province by stating its potentials, advantages, shortcomings, and challenges.

The Provincial Party Committee Secretary has also given development direction shifting from “hot” to “green” growth ; from broad to focus, from unsustainability  to sustainability.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, vice-chairman of QNPPC highly rated the group’s capacity and experiences. He believed that the cooperation with the group will create a leverage for the province’s planning on economic development. He confirmed that Quang Ninh will establish a  professional team to collaborate with the Monitor to exchange information with each other, thereby determining the contents that need to be worked on.
