On February 3, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Huynh Vinh Ai, Vice Chairwoman of Hanoi City People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc and representatives from relevant agencies worked with My Duc district People’s Committee on preparation for Huong (Perfume) Pagoda Festival 2013.
The Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism appreciated the district's preparations for the Huong Pagoda Festival 2013.
He asked My Duc district and relevant agencies to pay attention to environmental hygiene, and allocate healthcare workers and security officers to be on duty to deal with any problems.
Around 60 kilometres southwest of Hanoi, Huong Pagoda is one of the largest and most unique religious sites in Huong Son commune, My Duc district. It comprises a complex of pagodas and Buddhist shrines built into the limestone cliffs of Perfume Mount, scattered alongside the mountain up to the peak. The complex’s centre is right inside Huong Tich Cavern.
Huong Pagoda Festival begins in the middle of the first lunar month and lasts until the middle of the third one (or from February till April) in order to pray for happiness and prosperity in the coming year.
During the festival, diverse traditional cultural activities are held. The Perfume Pagoda is not only a religious site, but a great sight-seeing spot in Vietnam as well.
