The Government recently gave permission to the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee to pilot the operation of Chiniese tourist self-drive cars in Ha Long city.
Accordingly, the pilot duration will expire on December, 31, 2018. After the pilot duration, the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee needs to review, evaluate and report to the PM for consideration.
In addition, the Government agrees that, while this project is being piloted, the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee continues piloting tourist self-drive cars operating between Mong Cai city (Vietnam) and Dongxing city (China) through Mong Cai International border gate.
According to the evaluation of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, after one year of piloting tourist self-driving cars from China to Mong Cai city, there were 93 cars bringning 256 Chinese tourists to Mong Cai city, and 38 cars with 110 tourists from Vietnam to the China’s Dongxing city. However, this result is under the expectation.
Thus, the extending of operation of the self-driving cars in Ha Long city is expected to offer tourists more attractive tourism products, creating income for locals and enterprises, contributing to the State budget collection.
