From July 26, Ho Chi Minh City’s residents told to not go out after 6 pm

Residents in Ho Chi Minh City have been told to not go out during 6 pm to 6 am the next day from July 26, as the southern hub imposes stricter social distancing measures to curb COVID-19 spread.

On the evening of July 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a teleconference under the chair of Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member cum Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, to discuss stricter measures against the outbreaks in the city.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary Nen said that the conference aimed to discuss measures for the thorough implementation of Directive 16 of the Prime Minister on the application of strict social distancing rules in the city within two weeks, as well as effectively implementing Directive No. 12 of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

According to Nen, participants at the conference focused on discussing the most basic thing, that is how to control the outbreaks in the city.

In the next two weeks, the city targets to boost communications so that all units and people in the city voluntarily join hands to prevent the epidemic and cooperate in strictly implementing the social distancing order.

In addition to radically implementing the social distancing rules, the city authorities will regularly patrol and handle situations arise to ensure strict implementation of the social distancing order, as well as ensuring the supply of essential goods, especially food, with attention paid to the care of the poor and vulnerable groups, in addition to ensure the operation of the health system to protect the health of local people, especially providing treatment to COVID-19 patients.

At the conference, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong stated that starting from tomorrow evening, July 26, local residents are told to not go out from 6 pm to 6 am the next day.

All activities in the city are temporarily suspended, except for emergency cases and at the request of the concerned authorities for coordination in the epidemic prevention, Phong said.
