Vice Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has recently agreed to the proposal of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee regarding the extension of the pilot duration of operating self-drive tours through Mong Cai border gate, reported the Government Office.
Accordingly, the pilot duration of self-drive tours is extended till June 30, 2019, allowing Quang Ninh to continue to review and evaluate the effectiveness of this pilot project. During the extended duration, Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee is urged to continue to complete the management plan so that it could be appropriate with the current situation of Quang Ninh, contributing to the province’s socio-economic development, ensuring security and social order and safety as well as strictly complying with Vietnam’s current laws.
The pilot operation of self-drive tours through Mong Cai border to Ha Long city began on June 1, 2018. By Dec. 25, 2019, there were 53 cars bringning 108 Vietnamese tourists to China, and 289 cars with 988 tourists from China to Halong city.
