On those days when the Lunar New Year is coming, nothing is more interesting than visiting markets, particularly Dong Van market (in Dong Van commune, Binh Lieu district), to prepare for the traditional Tet holiday.
Dong Van market is one of 7 attractions and 3 tourism routes in Binh Lieu district that was recognized and put into operation in 2015. This is the central market of Dong Van commune, covering an area of over 4511m2.
Unlike other central markets which opens daily, Dong Van market only opens on Saturday. Coming to Dong Van market on Tet days you will be immersed in the bustling, joyful and colorful scenery of the ethnic groups of Dao Thanh Phan, San Chi and Tay ... who sell typical goods from their villages.
Going to the market at the end of the lunar year, you will find that many unique cultural values have still been maintained. On these days, it is often more crowded and bustling but mainly traditional goods produced by local people are sold at the market, such as: handmade vermicelli, brocade, traditional cakes, etc.
At Dong Van market, visitors could easily see the colorful ethnic costumes. The Dao girls gather to chat or buy new clothes for the Tet. The market is the place where the local people meet with each other, eating, drinking and singing traditional songs.
Dong Van market has currently been paid with much attentions in Binh Lieu district, and developed to become an attraction to allure tourists. This is also a convenient stopover for sightseeing routes. You could stop from Binh Lieu to Hai Ha and Mong Cai; from the central town to the border landmark attraction in Binh Lieu.
