Co To island to connect the national power grid

 A project aiming to connect Co To island and five island communes of Van Don district with the national power grid was launched by Quang Ninh province and the Northern Power Corporation (NPC) on November 4th.

The project includes components such as 110kV electric wires linking Cam Pha and Van Don, a 40MVA Van Don I transformer station, small transformer stations, and low pressure power wires providing electricity to households.

This is the first project across the country that uses the technology of 22kV underground cables below the seabed. The project is worth VND1.107 billion, of which Quang Ninh province will invest VND883 billion and the NPC VND284 billion. Apart from that, the project is also sponsored by other businesses.

The project is expected to be completed after 12 months.

This is a significant project that will develop Co To island and will greatly assist the island to become a dynamic economic zone in the marine and island economic development strategy of Quang Ninh province as well as the firm basis to protect the national defence and security of the northeastern sea of the nation./.
