Chairman Nguyen Van Doc received Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam

On June 15, the Belgium Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Bruno Agenet accompanied by some Belgian enterprises visited Quang Ninh to seek for investment chances. The Chairman of Quang Ninh PPC Nguyen Van Doc received the delegation.

During the meeting, the possibilities of enhancing the economic cooperation between Quang Ninh and Belgium were discussed. Ambassador informed the Chairman about Belgian investments in Vietnam. Belgium provides US$25 million in ODA for Vietnam each year, mainly in education, water resource management, and scholarships to aid capacity development in Vietnam. Belgium and Vietnam have seen their two-way trade grow quickly, hitting over US$1 billion in 2011, or twice as much as the figure a decade ago.

Mr. Bruno Agenet highly appreciated Quang Ninh’s potential and recent socio-economic achievement. He and Belgian companies are keen in enhancing their operations in Quang Ninh, eyeing seaport, logistics, environment, water management, etc. Paricularly, they also showed interest in some transportation projects namely 5B expressway and Hai Noi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh highway and infrastructure construction projects in the area of Dam Nha Mac in Quang Yen town.

Chairman Nguyen Van Doc lauded the Ambassador and Belgian enterprises’ willingness to cooperate with Quang Ninh province. The Chairman said that Quang Ninh Province, called "Viet Nam in miniature", has a strategic political and economic location, traditional and historical value as well as natural resources and a strong labour force.

The province has spared no effort to implement several important works for its sustainable development target by continuing to improve administrative procedures and prepare favourable conditions to promote investment in commerce, service sectors and successfully transfer economic structure in the upcoming time.

Thus, Quang Ninh hoped to enlist the cooperation of Belgian enterprises in carrying out key projects, the chairman confirmed./.
