Tien Yen old town with ancient houses and historical sites have been a must-see attraction for tourists coming to Tien Yen District.
Visiting Tien Yien old town, peaceful streets and ancient houses built of stones and black bricks in early 20th century have left a deep impression on tourists. Through the ups and downs, many houses in Tien Yen old town have been upgraded; however, they have kept the unique ancient architecture. Currently, there are nearly 40 ancient houses scattered on the streets of Thong Nhat, Ly Thuong Kiet, Hoa Binh and Quang Trung.
The old town makes tourists feel curious about the diverse cross architectural picture reflecting the interference of the Eastern and Western cultures. These are the French works such as churches, villas, military posts, hospitals, prisons or the Chinese remaining houses, temples and pagodas.
Although experiencing ups and downs of history, many ancient buildings in the old town remain stable across time, creating a diversity of life and beliefs of the people here.
Besides, tourists can have a good opportunity to find out unique cuisine culture with specialties such as five colored sticky rice, Tien Yen chicken, lime water dumplings etc. More particularly, nodding rice cakes are a favorite choice of many visitors. Mrs Pham Thi Cuc’s cake making facility at Hoa Binh street, Tien Yen town, is one of the interesting address for tourists who want to visit and eat cakes. Many of them feel excited about learning how to make these cakes.
Tien Yen old town has attracted more tourists thanks to not only its ancient beauty of streets but also the exciting walking street at weekend nights.
