The Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee has ratified a plan for the construction of diezel power stations at Thanh Lan commune and Đong Tien commune (Co To district).
The investor, the People’s Committee of Co To district, is responsible for establishing investment procedures in accordance with the law. The project will be financed through the provincial budget and is expected to be completed in 2012.
According to the socio-economic development master plan of Co To Sea and Island, a thermal power plant will be built in the island district with the estimated capacity of 5-6 MW in the upcoming time and then expanded after 2015 to fulfill the demand for electricity in this region.
In addition, solar energy and wind power projects will be launched in the region, especially in remote areas and small islands.
Also under this plan, Co To island is striving to achieve the annual economic growth rate of 17%-18% per year and increase the average income per capita from VND 4.9 million a year to over VND 10 million a year in 2017 and VND 17 million a year in 2020.
