300,000 million students in Quang Ninh begin new school year

300,000 students across the province, started a new academic year on September 5.

Provincial leaders attended new school years ceremonies held in schools across the province.

Accordingly, the Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee Nguyen Van Doc attended the ceremony at Hon Gai High School, where the new runner up of the “Road via to Olympia peak” competition Nguyen Hoang Cuong is studying.

Speaking at the ceremony, the leader of Quang Ninh party said many generations of students in the school had contributed to the development of training and education of the province. He said the school should focus on intellectual development, physical education, quality formation, and capacity of citizens for students.

In particular, it needs to identify and foster talents of the students, and closely combine school education with family and social education, he said.

On the same day, Chairman of Quang Ninh Nguyen Duc Long beat the drum to open a new academic year at Cam Pha High School.

Congratulating teachers and students of Cam Pha High School, Chairman Nguyen Duc Long asked them to continue promoting achievements gained in the previous years.  He granted merit certificates to teachers and students who gained excellent achievements in teaching and studying in the 2017-2018 shool year.

Other provincial leaders attended ceremonies held in Mong Cai, Uong Bi cities as well as in other localities.

In the 2018-2019 academic year, the education sector will continue applying measures to strengthen State management and improve the quality of education, while building a safe, healthy and friendly education environment.

The sector will focus on developing pre-schools at industrial parks, while finalizing preparations for the launching of new education programme and textbook, especially for first-grade students. It will take steps to continue enhancing the quality of the national high-school examination, while reforming the management mechanisms at high schools.

At the same time, tertiary education will concentrate on standardizing the quality of students to meet the requirement of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The efficiency of community-based education facilities as well as vocational training centres will also be improved.

The sector will also work to complete targets set in a project to build a learning society.
