2019 Intellectual Property Conference opens in Quang Ninh

On Apr. 10, in Ha Long city, the 2019 Intellectual Property Conference was jointly held by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (under Ministry of Science and Technology) and the Quang Ninh Department of Science and Technology.

At the conference, Quang Ninh province suggested that the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Office of Intellectual Propertyshould offer policies and mechanisms for the management of intellectual property activities, and pay attention to support localities in promoting the trademark registration and exploitation of patented and useful solutions

Prominent among those at the 2-day conference were Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Cong Tac, Quang Ninh‘s Vice Chairman Dang Huy Hau, and the participation of over 300 delegates from Science and Technology departments, universities, institutes and organizations around the country.

Addressing the conference, Vice Chairman Dang Huy Hau said that in recent years, Quang Ninh province has paid much attention to the science and technology activities, especially Intellectual Property. The province’s leaders have assigned the functional authorities to instruct and support enterprises to study, establish and develop intellectual properties in order to promote production and business activities. Particularly, compliance of the intellectual property law in the One Commune One Products (OCOP) after 5 years of implementation has brought positive results and attracted many individuals and businesses to register trademark. The value of products under the program has been increased by 25-30% compared to previous years.

At the conference, Quang Ninh province suggested that the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Office of Intellectual Property should offer policies and mechanisms for the management of intellectual property activities, and pay attention to support localities in promoting the trademark registration and exploitation of patented and useful solutions.

Delegates also focused on discussing about topics how to improve the effectiveness of State management in supporting, and promoting creative activities, and proposed measures to develop intellectual property.
