On October 20, the People's Council Committee of Ha Long city held the 14th congress on the approval of the plan on merging Hoanh Bo district into Ha Long city. Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee, cum Chairman of Provincial People’s Council, Nguyen Xuan Ky attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee, cum Chairman of Provincial People’s Council, Nguyen Xuan Ky strongly affirmed that the 14th congress has a significant meaning of the Ha Long city People's Council to discuss and consider important decisions of the whole political system, in an attempt to create new momentum, new resources for rapid and sustainable long-term development of not only Ha Long city but also the whole province and the region.
The merger of Hoanh Bo district into Ha Long city is an important premise to provide the new Ha Long city with enough large space for development not only in the next 20-30 years but also in the future, helping Ha Long to become an advantageous city with great development potential, which could meet criteria in terms of land, population and necessary infrastructure to reach the target of developing Quang Ninh into the central city by the year of 2030. It is expected to develop Ha Long into biggest type 2 urban of the country and an international tourism hub.
At the meeting, councilors had discussions and raised their opinions on merging Hoanh Bo district into Ha Long city. The meeting reached unanimous agreement of the councilor on the merger of Hoanh Bo district into Ha Long city.
