1. Ha Long Bay is named on the list of the new seven natural wonders of the world based on preliminary result.
2. Uong Bi becomes a city and Quang Yen town is reestablished.
Quang Ninh is the only province in the nationwide that has 3 cities and 2 towns. To achieve this goal, Quang Ninh has invested in upgrading its the urban areas and planning to develop production and tourism services.
3. The largest ever amount of over VND 28,000 billion has been contributed to the State budget. All enterprises within the province, especially the ones of Coal industry and construction materials maintained their production despite of difficulties.
4. The social investment capital reaches VND 41,000 billion; of which, the capital from State budget is VND 6,300 billion. The key projects with the large investment capital that have been implemented include: project on upgrading the 18 National road Ha Long-Uong Bi; and Mong Duong Thermal Power Plant I & II project.
5.Ha Long City welcomed the six millionth international tourist; the number of visitors to Ha Long Bay also reached six million arrivals.
6.Quang Ninh province has reduced the number of traffic accidents thanks to the intensive leadership and direction of the whole political system, the active involvement of the local people as well as adequate investment in developing and upgrading transport infrastructure.
7. Leaders of Quang Ninh province paid working visits to 3 provinces of the Lao Peoples’s Democratic Republic.
8. Quang Ninh province continues to pay its comprehensive care to the educational system in terms of both infrastructure and human resource training. Education sector of the province has made strong and sustainable changes. Specically, Uong Bi city became the first unit at district level in the nationwide that completed the goal of building national-standard schools in all four levels.
9. Quang Ninh has successfully held the election for the 13th National Assembly (NA) delegates and People's Council at all levels for the 2011-2016 term. The first meeting session of the NA and People’s Council at all levels was successfully organized to elect the key positions. Specifically, Mr Vu Duc Dam, member of the Central Party Committee, former Provincial Secretary was selected as the minister Government Office; Mr Pham Minh Chinh, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Lieutenant, Member of Central Party Committee and former Deputy Minister of Public Security was selected as Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee.
10. Vietnam National Coal and Mineral industry Group (Vinacomin) continues to gain stable growth, maintaining the position of one of ten leading enterprises in the nationwide.
