HCMC trade group wants Covid hospitals built in industrial parks to treat workers

The Hepza Businesses Association has suggested that HCMC authorities should build Covid-19 field hospitals in industrial parks to treat workers and ensure supply chains remain intact.

It said infrastructure developer Sepzone Linh Trung Company and some other investors want to build a field hospital at ready-built workshops in the Linh Trung 2 Export Processing Zone, and many others have offered to donate equipment for it.

It called on health authorities and hospitals to assist enterprises in performing rapid tests on workers and to prioritize vaccination of workers, especially at the Cat Lai Industrial Park and Cat Lai Port.

According to the HBA, nearly half of all enterprises in 17 industrial parks and export processing zones in HCMC registered to have workers staying the workplace, and nearly 84 percent of them met all requirements.

The southern province of Tay Ninh is building field hospitals in industrial parks, including a 600-bed facility at the Thanh Thanh Cong Industrial Park in Trang Bang District and a 500-bed hospital at the Phuoc Dong Industrial Park in Go Dau District.

Another will be set up at the Linh Trung 3 Export Processing Zone in Trang Bang in the near future.

HCMC has 17 export processing zones, industrial parks and high-tech zones with 1,500 businesses.

It has recorded nearly 116,000 Covid cases so far in the latest wave that began late April.
