Free coaches sponsored by coal companies are bringing thousands of migrant workers back to their hometowns as the Lunar New Year festival (Tet) is only a few days away.
On February 4 (or the 25the day of the last lunar month), 19 free coaches departed from Duong Huy Coal Company, an affiliate of Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV), carried nearly 800 workers to their hometowns.
Those free coaches brought workers and their families back to their houses in provinces and cities such as Ha Giang, Son La, Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, etc.
Aside from the free coaches, the company also presented gift packages and some lucky money (or li xi).
Duong Huy Coal Company also offered free two-way coaches to its workers on the occasion of New Year holiday (January 1).
Previously, on February 1 (or the 22nd day of the last lunar month), 7 coaches departing Khe Sim Coal Company, under Dong Bac Corporation, brought workers to their hometown for free to central and northern provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Bac Kan, and Ha Giang.
As scheduled, Khe Sim Company will organize two more coaches carrying 200 workers back home on February 2 (or the 26th day of the last lunar month).
