Bamboo Airways puts Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner into operation

On Dec 22nd, Bamboo Airways’ the first wide-bodied Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner departed Noi Bai International Airport for Van Don International Airport. Bamboo Airways is the first private carrier in Vietnam to operate the wide-bodied aircraft. Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee Secretary, cum Chairman of People’s Council, Nguyen Xuan Ky, attended the ceremony of welcoming the plane.

Named “Ha Long Bay” – the world heritage and natural wonder, Bamboo Airways’ the first wide-bodied aircraft started a series of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to be put into operation in the coming time. As scheduled, Bamboo Airways will operate 4 other Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners in Jan 2020. In the short term, “Ha Long Bay” aircraft will be used for Ha Noi – Ho Chi Minh City route and Ha Noi – Phu Quoc route as well as flights to Van Don International Airport.

Van Don International Airport, the first privately-built airport in Vietnam, came into operation in Dec 30th 2018. After one year of operation, the airport has received over 2,000 flights, including 149 international flights, bringing 260, 000 passenger arrivals, including 10,500 international arrivals. Along with Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways is domestic carrier exploiting Van Don International Airport.
