Mao Khe thermal power plant joins national grid
The Mao Khe thermal power plant in Dong Trieu district has been connected to the national grid.

Invested by Vinacomin, the Mao Khe Thermoelectric Power Plant in the coal-mining province of Quang Ninh includes two turbines with a combined capacity of 440MW and consume dust coal from Mao Khe, Trang Bach, Khe Chuoi and Hong Thai mines to generate electricity.
Covering 72ha in Dong Trieu district, Quang Ninh province, the well-equipped power plant was built at a total cost of VND9 trillion (US$432 million), uses the circulating fluidised-bed (CFB) combustion technology. Work on the plant commenced on July 8, 2009.
On June 29, 2012, the first turbine was put into trial operation and scheduled to commercially run in November 2012.
In accordance with the EPC contract, the second turbine will be put into commercial operation in May, 2013, said the Vietnam Electricity Corporation./.
