At present, among the port system in the North of Vietnam, Cai Lan International Container Terminal (CICT) is a deep-water port with the most synchronous and modern infrastructure. Over the years, the port has played an important role in Quang Ninh’s seaport economic development plans. To continue improving the competitiveness and attracting cargo sources, CICI has renewed and effectively applied technological measures to create favorable conditions for shipowners to save time at the port.

The CICT is currently managing and exploiting the berths No.2, 3 & 4 of the Cai Lan Port. The port is located in an enclosed bay at the deep water level of minus 13 meters, modernly equipped with 4 Panamax STS quay cranes which are able to transship vessels with 17 containers wide, ERTG crane, container trucks, crane system for bulk handling and synchronous logistics services.

General Director of the CICT Le Hong Quan said that the company has actively promoted its brandname, standardized the process of bulk cargo exploitation, applied technological solutions and CICT portal software connecting to the national one-stop system to implement administrative procedures in marine sector. Besides, the company has closely coordinated with specialized state management units to sign e-licenses for ships arriving or leaving the port.

In order to improve the utility, in parallel with increasing promotion, the CICT has focused on developing various types of logistics services such as road transport, waterway transport from Hai Phong to Cai Lan and vice versa; implementing load reduction for large vessels, and continuting to promote potential and advantages as one of the transshipment points of the ACS international maritime route. In 2019, the bulk cargo via the port is estimated at over mil.tons and over 100,000 TEU containers.

Thanks to the proactive and flexible application of solutions in handling procedures for ships at the port, improving loading and uploading capacity, timely supplying logistics services, up to now, the administrative procedures at the CICT have been simplified meanwhile the time for the implementation and ship stay has been shortened. Presently, it takes the ships 15-30 minutes  replacing 6-8 hours as the previous time to undertake maritime procedures and 2-3 days replacing 7-10 days for bulk cargo loading and unloading. This has created favorable conditions and cost savings for customers and increased ship operation efficiency in line with the trend of developing international maritime transport which are highly appreciated by locals and businesses, thereby contributing to promoting seaport advantages of Quang Ninh province.
